Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak has warned of an "imminent democratic collapse" in Israel.
Barak accused current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of leading a "corrupt and extremist dictatorship" through what he described as a "personal war" aimed at preserving his political survival.
He stated that the war in Gaza is being conducted without a clear strategic objective, asserting that the real aim behind escalating military operations is to "delay political accountability and obstruct the investigation committee into the failures of October 7."
At a time when the Israeli political system is experiencing an unprecedented crisis, Barak emphasized that Netanyahu’s actions over the past two years reflect a systematic pattern aimed at undermining the judiciary, neutralizing oversight bodies, controlling the media, and appointing loyalists to sensitive positions.
Barak called for the launch of a "broad, peaceful civil disobedience movement" to "save the state from collapse."
