A high-ranking Palestinian official familiar with the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza told the British BBC network that Qatari and Egyptian mediators have proposed a new formula to end the war.

According to the official, the new plan includes a truce lasting five to seven years, the release of all Israeli captives in exchange for Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails, the end of the war, and a complete withdrawal of the occupation from the Gaza Strip.

The official added that Hamas has shown significant flexibility and is willing to hand over the administration of the Strip to any Palestinian body agreed upon at the regional and national levels.

A Hamas delegation is expected to arrive to discuss the proposal, while the Israeli government has not commented on this new initiative from the mediators.
