Axios has revealed that U.S. White House special envoy Steve Witkoff is scheduled to meet in Ibiza, Spain, with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani to discuss a plan to end the war in Gaza.
According to a source involved in the negotiations, Qatar and the United States are working on drafting a comprehensive proposal that will be presented to both parties within the next two weeks.
Despite the Israeli Cabinet’s decision to instruct the army to prepare for the occupation of Gaza City, it is expected that such an operation would take at least several weeks, due to the need for military planning, the evacuation of about one million Palestinian civilians from the area, and preparations for humanitarian aid.
A senior Israeli official said that the offensive plan would not be carried out immediately, adding that the exact timetable for launching the operation has not yet been determined, leaving more time to reach a diplomatic solution.
