Food Kitchens in Gaza to Shut Down Within Days

The Palestinian NGO Network has warned that most community food kitchens in the Gaza Strip will cease operations within days due to the depletion of food supplies from relief organizations — a development that would deprive tens of thousands of families of their only daily meal.

Amjad Al-Shawa, the network’s director, explained that these kitchens provide one meal a day, benefiting around 40–45% of households, but this percentage has been steadily declining due to food shortages and the Israeli targeting of several kitchen sites.

He noted that just days ago, the per-person food share was already less than one loaf of bread per day — a portion that has since shrunk even further. Al-Shawa warned of an impending catastrophe due to the severe shortage of food.

He urged the international community to act immediately to save Palestinians, especially the children.
