Dr. Marwan Al-Hums, Director of Field Hospitals at the Gaza Ministry of Health, has warned of the imminent collapse of Gaza’s healthcare system. Hospitals are overcrowded with the wounded and lack even the most basic supplies and resources.
Al-Hums stated that medicines, medical services, and essential equipment are nearly non-existent. Many machines have broken down and cannot be repaired due to the continued closure of crossings, which prevents the entry of spare parts. Meanwhile, casualties from Israel’s ongoing genocidal war continue to flood the hospitals.
He stressed that medical teams are struggling to treat severe and complex injuries, including extensive burns—often exceeding 90–100% of the body and even beyond fourth-degree burns. Most of the casualties, whether martyred or wounded, are children and women.
He also noted that 43% of patients are dying due to a lack of treatment, including 80,000 diabetics, 110,000 patients with hypertension, thousands of cancer patients, and hundreds needing kidney dialysis.
