WFP: Half a Million People in Gaza on the Brink of Famine

The World Food Programme (WFP) has warned that around half a million people in Gaza are at risk of famine due to the ongoing blockade and severe shortage of aid.

The WFP explained that the amount of aid currently entering Gaza meets only 47% of the daily target required to cover the minimum needs of the population. It stressed that aid distribution, hot meal provision, and the operation of supported bakeries cannot resume without a significant increase in aid volume.

Amjad Shawa, head of the Palestinian NGOs Network in Gaza, added that their teams are diagnosing around 200 children daily with malnutrition, and that only 10% of basic goods are entering the strip.
