Walla website quoted high-profile Israeli officials stating that the Norwegian government was the one to mediate between the Israeli occupation and the PA to reword the resumption plan of civil and security coordination. According to the website, an immediate meeting will be held with senior PA officials to reestablish work relations. Hussein Al-Sheikh, Minister of Civil Affairs, said that the decision followed written and oral letters received by the PA indicating that the occupation is committed to its agreements with the PA, so the relations between the two parties should return to what they were like before May 19, 2020, when President Abbas declared suspending coordination. Israeli officials say that Abbas’ decision came after Biden’s victory in the US elections, and the economic crisis the PA has been suffering from since it stopped taking the taxes the occupation collects (i.e. about 3 billion shekels).
