Thamin Al-Khitan, spokesperson for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, stated that the starving people of Gaza are faced with an inhumane choice: dying of hunger or risking being killed while trying to obtain food.

Al-Khitan added that since the launch of the “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation” on May 27, Israeli forces have bombed and opened fire on civilians attempting to reach food distribution points, resulting in the killing of over 410 Palestinians. Additionally, at least 93 others were killed while trying to reach UN and other humanitarian convoys. No fewer than 3,000 people have been injured in these incidents.

He called for an urgent and impartial investigation into every killing and for those responsible to be held accountable.
