Ismail Al-Thawabteh, Director General of the Government Media Office in Gaza, confirmed that the Strip has entered the third stage of hunger — classified internationally as a catastrophic phase.
Al-Thawabteh stated: “The extremely limited entry of aid into Gaza does not in any way meet the minimum daily humanitarian needs and does not reflect any improvement in living or nutritional conditions.”
He added that Gaza’s residents are suffering from a severe shortage of food, widespread malnutrition-related diseases, and rising death rates due to hunger — particularly among children and infants — as confirmed by independent UN organizations, refuting the Israeli narrative.
He noted that Gaza requires no less than 600 relief and fuel trucks daily to meet the basic needs for food, water, medicine, and essential supplies.
He explained that only about 1% of that amount has actually entered the Strip in recent weeks, amid a total closure of main crossings and extensive destruction of humanitarian infrastructure.
