A member of Israel’s ruling coalition has described the war in Gaza as futile and called for it to end, just hours after the announcement of the deaths of seven engineering corps soldiers inside an armored vehicle in the Strip.
Moshe Gafni, head of the Knesset Finance Committee and a senior figure in the ultra-Orthodox “United Torah Judaism” party, stated that Israel needs former U.S. President Donald Trump to end the war on Gaza, just as he halted the escalation with Iran.
“I still don’t understand what we’re fighting for in Gaza, or what the goal is,” Gafni said. “What are we going to do there when our soldiers are being killed all the time? We need Trump to declare the end of the war, secure the return of the captives, and restore normalcy.”
