Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced that the Security Cabinet (the Cabinet) has decided to resume the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip using the previous mechanism, after the failure to implement the new joint Israeli-American aid mechanism.
Smotrich expressed his opposition to the decision, stating:
"This decision was made by the Cabinet and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. I oppose it and will consider my next steps in light of this development."
This comes as the Israeli government has not yet approved the amendments proposed by Hamas regarding the ceasefire agreement framework. However, it has decided to send a negotiating delegation to Doha, the Qatari capital, to continue the indirect talks aimed at bridging differences on a ceasefire deal and a prisoner exchange agreement.
