The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth revealed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is exerting increasing pressure on the security and military establishment to reach a temporary agreement with Hamas, even if it requires withdrawing from the Morag axis, one of the sensitive sites in Rafah, southern Gaza Strip.
According to the report, Netanyahu is aiming to complete the deal as soon as possible, while sharp divisions exist within military and security circles regarding this approach.
At the same time, there is a fundamental debate about the type of agreement desired; some voices within the army call for a comprehensive deal that completely resolves the issue of the hostages.
On the other hand, several senior officers believe that Hamas will not easily relinquish its negotiating cards, meaning the practical solution currently lies in recovering the greatest possible number of hostages in stages, even if it requires a high price, whether on the ground or politically.
