A worldwide campaign has been launched demanding the release of Palestinian prisoner Marwan Barghouti.
The campaign has begun to gain visual and media presence, with murals bearing the slogan “Free Marwan” appearing on the streets of London, in addition to a large artwork in the town of Kobar, north of Ramallah (Barghouti’s hometown).
The Guardian newspaper reported that the international arena is witnessing increasing activity calling for Barghouti’s release; the most prominent and popular Palestinian leaders and is seen by a wide segment of Palestinians as a symbol of hope and the possibility of renewing political legitimacy in the occupied territories.
