Amani Al-Naouq, Media Officer at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), has warned of the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, stressing that humanitarian needs have become massive and widespread amid the ongoing aggression and its impact on all aspects of life.
Al-Naouq said that Gaza’s residents are in urgent need of long-term solutions to improve their living conditions, as the demand for food, medicine, shelter supplies, and other basic necessities continues to grow. She explained that recent flooding caused by heavy rainfall has further worsened the suffering of the population, particularly those living in temporary shelters and worn-out tents, who are enduring their third consecutive winter under such conditions.
She also warned that the floods increase the risk of the spread of diseases and water-borne infections due to the contamination of water sources and their mixing with sewage and waste.
