In a press release, the Foreign Ministers of Palestine, Egypt and Jordan agreed on the importance of encouraging the Israeli entity to negotiate and base its negotiations on the two-state solution; ensuring the establishment of a Palestinian State along the 1967 borders with east Al-Quds as its capital.
The press release was delivered after a meeting between the Foreign Ministers Riyadh Al-Malki, Sameh shukri and Ayman Al-Safadi. They met to discuss coordination and exchange viewpoints on the developments in the region.
They stressed how the international resolutions, the most recent of which being Resolution no. 2334, and the Arab Peace Initiative should stand as the base of negotiations. The Ministers agreed on work mechanisms to mobilize the international position to stand against the illegal Israeli procedures.
These illegal actions include the establishment of settlements, demolition of homes, grabbing of lands, and other violations that target the Arabic, Islamic and Christian identity of Al-Quds or the existing historical and legal situation.
They reaffirmed that Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa has an area of 144 donums, and is for a place of worship for the Muslims only. In this context, the Ministers warned against the consequences of the financial crisis from which the UNRWA is suffering on its services to the Palestinians.
They also stressed the importance of quick work to fill the budget deficit of the UNRWA to ensure its continuity. During the meeting, Al-Malki and Al-Safadi praised the Egyptian efforts made to achieve the Palestinian reconciliation. The three Ministers agreed on holding more meetings to ensure the best coordination quality at such a sensitive stage.
