Maria Zakharova, the Director of the Information and Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, said in a briefing that the Israeli occupation’s summoning of the Russian ambassador to Tel Aviv Anatoly Viktorov after his interview with Jerusalem Post was strange to Moscow.

Russia informed the Israelis several times about its opinions in this regard. Zakharova stressed that all the statements by the Ambassador are in-line with Russia’s positions on the Middle East issues which are known to everyone.

The Jerusalem Post newspaper had quoted the Ambassador stating that the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is the main factor of instability in the region.

Zakharova pointed to how Russia looks positively at the normalization between the occupation and the Arab countries, but also stressed that Russia’s position remains the same.

Russia believes that the Palestinian issue was and still is essential to the achievement of peace in the Middle East and no regional stability can be achieved without solving it.
