Adam Raz, ‘Israeli’ historian, revealed in a lecture the crimes which were committed by the ‘Israeli’ occupation against the Palestinians who stayed in their lands after the 1948 Nakba.

He said that the occupation had established Nazi-like camps where it imprisoned thousands of Palestinian citizens in Palestinian towns in 1948. The imprisoned were civilians who did not take part in the fight.

Raz said that the documents are filed in the Ministry of Minorities’ Affairs, in the ‘state’s’ archive and the Ministry of Security. He said that there have been attempts to hide and filter these documents.

Raz quoted Sheikh Ismael Abu Shehadeh from Yafa, grandfather of deputy Sami Abu Shehadeh representing the National Democratic Front, describing those tough days saying, “The ‘Israelis’ surrounded us with wires without gates. We were allowed to leave only with permits issued by a certain employee”.

Raz said that Lod city was the place where the Palestinians were gathered in certain neighborhoods all alone and were under curfew. Same thing happened in Ramla and Yafa. The Palestinians were deprived from food to the extent that their parents could not recognize them afterwards as a result to losing weight and the change in their looks.

‘Prisoners without Swords’ is a book that documents the difficult conditions of arrests that the prisoners suffered from during the 1948 Nakba. The prisoners were subjected to starvation, beating, murder deprivation, sleep on thorns in the outdoors, and deprivation of medical care.

The book documents the testimonies of Palestinians who were forced to move the dead bodies of 70 Palestinian martyrs who were murdered by the occupation inside Masjid Dahmash in Lod. The bodies were swollen and the blood splashed the walls of the Masjid. The bodies were burned in Lod cemetery and were not allowed to be buried.
