The Arab Organization for Human Rights in Britain condemned in a press release the occupation's demands to extend the solitary confinement of the prisoner Sheikh Raed Salah, the Head of the Islamic Movement in the 1948 Lands, six more months. The Organization described this as a life-threatening measure.
Sources from the Organization said that the extension request that was submitted by the occupation's prisons' administration was ordered by higher-level officials in the government. The main aim was to inflict psychological and physical harm on the Sheikh.
The Organization also added that solitary confinement is itself a punishment and must only be used for specific reasons and temporarily. Using it against the Sheikh is a vengeful act. It urged all UN institutions and commissions to interfere immediately and stop the violations against the Sheikh.
