The Institute for National Security Studies published a study titled ‘Israeli Information campaigns of war on the Gaza Strip in 2008'; it reported that the Awareness Operations Center in the occupation army failed to influence the people’s support for resistance during the 2008-2009 aggression.
The Institute stated that the main objective of the Operations Center during the aggression was creating a gap between Hamas and people in Gaza, and the occupation prepared posts and videos by the assistance of civilian advisers against Hamas.
The center developed capacities to produce fast content during the war to spread rumors among citizens. For example, it was rumored that Hamas’ leaders fled and left the civilians behind or used them as human shields.
The center used influential tools such as throwing flyers, hacking TV channels and radio stations, working actively online, preventing Hamas’ broadcast on TV and radios.
In 2012 and 2014 aggressions, the Awareness Operations Center changed the approach, and stared to Implement a psychological war against Hamas.
