Hazem Qassem, Hamas’ spokesperson, said in a press release that the process of electing Hamas leader in the Gaza Strip is in progress and will be completed tomorrow in accordance with Hamas’ regulations.

He added that the elections were held in a positive and democratic atmosphere under the supervision of Central Elections Commission in accordance with the movement’s internal regulations.

The elections to choose the General Consultative Council and Chairman of the Political Bureau of the movement will also be held.

On February 23, Hamas declared the initiation of the first stage of holding its primary elections in which thousands of its members participated.
