According to the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, the Hamas delegation has concluded its visit to Cairo after holding a series of meetings with Egyptian officials. The discussions focused on the humanitarian aid crisis amid the famine ravaging Gaza.

The paper, citing informed sources, stated that while the meetings were significant, they did not yield substantial results regarding a ceasefire agreement. However, they kept the door open for a potential joint political initiative led by Cairo in cooperation with Doha to persuade Israel to resume negotiations. Egyptian officials reportedly indicated the possibility of a breakthrough "within the coming week."

For its part, Hamas confirmed to the Egyptians its readiness to return to the negotiating table, provided that humanitarian aid is allowed in, expressing its "willingness and openness to a comprehensive deal to end the war."
