Shadi Osman, the spokesperson for the European Union, stated that the Israeli occupation Government's position on the Palestinian elections remains unclear, while the UN insists on the conduct of elections in all Palestinian territories, including the occupied Al-Quds. He predicts that the occupation would not impede their conduct in Al-Quds.

Osman said that the EU called the occupation to allow the European observers' preparatory mission to access the Gaza Strip but it did not received any reply. The Union will continue to try all possible options to ensure a European observer mission’s presence.
