Local sources said that the Israeli occupation forces began large-scale levlling works in lands located between Az-Za'ayyem village and Al-Issawiya in the occupied Al-Quds to open a new road, and isolate the city from its surroundings as part of the so-called “E1” settlement project.

E1 project is the most dangerous settlement project that targets Al-Quds and the nearby cities of the occupied West Bank. The Israeli occupation government approved the project in 1999 but delayed the implantation several times.
