Hamas stated its objection against the delay and cancellation of the elections, stressing the importance of joint work to identify the mechanisms of holding the elections in the occupied Al-Quds without needing the occupation's permission. Hamas emphasized that elections' conduct in Al-Quds was a redline.
It also said that the three-stage elections are crucial for ending the division. It urged all national factions and political powers to reject the delay and cancellation.
25 electoral lists, registered in the elections, organized a strike in Ramallah against the delay and cancellation. The participants deemed it unlawful for the PA President Mahmoud Abbas to modify or delay the elections' date upon issuing a presidential decree.
The candidate Nizar Banat, from the Liberty and Dignity list, demanded the identification of a timetable for the delay, and dissolving of the security and intelligence bodies which coordinate with the occupation. He also demanded the identification of clear steps to face the Israeli decision, formation of a government and facilitation of presidential work without President Abbas.
