Joey Hood, Acting Assistant Secretary of State, pledged in his talk at Wilson Centre that the American funds sent to the Gaza Strip would not go to Hamas, and that the humanitarian aids will be sent to regional actors through legal and transparent channels, and trusted independent partners who have been inspected and who deliver aids to the needy directly.
He said that a 60-page document was prepared for the measures that would be followed in cashing the money ensuring they do not reach Hamas. He said that the mechanism will follow serious regulations.
After the 11-day war on Gaza, the international community has been seeking ways to prevent Hamas from using the reconstruction funds.
