Basim Naim, Head of Hamas' Council on International Relations, said that the movement has followed up with statements by Lynn Hastings, the Humanitarian Coordinator of the occupied Palestinian territory, on the disastrous humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

Naim said that the Israeli siege imposed on the Gaza Strip, especially after the recent aggression, has had a major impact on the humanitarian situation and resulted in severe consequences at economic, social and psychological levels pushing towards a new escalation.

He noted that the Palestinian people would not accept to return to square one and negotiate over the basic rights guaranteed by the International Law even in times of war.

He urged all competent authorities to shoulder the responsibility and exercise pressure on the occupation to end the siege since the other scenarios would have higher costs.
