Arab-Israeli Normalization Won’t Make Occupation Survive Longer

Normalization has rapidly increased between Arab countries and the Israeli occupation in favor of the Israeli community and government, which seeks establishing diplomatic, economic, security and military relations with neighboring Arab countries.

Since 1948, i.e. when the occupation’s entity was established, the occupation has been trying to create such bonds; however, the Arab countries could not immediately become involved in normalization. The Arab peoples were aware of the Palestinian cause, so their governors could not distract and mislead the public opinion towards their personal interests and ambitions. In addition, the USA and the Soviet Union were fighting at political, military and economic levels (the Cold War). As a result, the Arab countries were split into some supporting the Union and others the USA. That did not last long as the Arabs soon sided with one over the other.

Despite the multiple wars Egypt and Jordan fought against the Israeli occupation, the latter, with American mediation, forced them both to normalize. The beginning of such work was in 1978 when the Egyptian President Mohammed Anwar Al-Sadat signed the peace treaty ‘Camp David Accords’ alone without having peace in exchange of a just solution to the Palestinian cause as a condition.

A few years later, in 1993, the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) signed Oslo Accords with the Israeli occupation. Upon the Accords, the PLO was founded and the Palestinian Authority recognized the occupation as an existing state. This happened at the time of Yasser Arafat, President of the Palestinian Authority. The Jordanian Hashemite Kingdom then signed Wadi Araba Treaty, a peace treaty, with the occupation in 1994 at the time of King Hussein.

Still, the previous treaties did not legalize normalization with the occupation to other Arab countries. In fact, the Arab position remained stiff against the occupation; the peoples and their governments continued to call for a just solution to the cause and the expulsion of the occupation from Palestine. As time passed, the normalizers claimed that normalization with the occupation was intended to protect their borders, but they did so to please the American side, which is the father-figure of the Israeli occupation.

The Israeli occupation worked on forming relations with the Arab countries secretly and openly in order to create itself a secured haven without feeling alienated from the Arab surroundings. It persistently works on having Arab allies through which it can control the Arab minds, mislead them and distract them towards forgetting ‘a just solution to the cause’. The occupation also wants to emphasize the Jewish presence as rightful owners, and that Arabs must perceive the entity as a neighboring country – one they must co-exist with.

The situation remained the same until the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia began overtly searching for a solution to the cause but covertly strengthening its ties with the Israeli entity. In 2002, King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz called for the Peace Initiative in Beirut Conference through which he sought the implementation of the UN’s 194 Resolution which dictated the occupation’s withdrawal from all lands it had occupied in 1967 and the establishment of a Palestinian state.

He, however, failed for the following reasons:

  • He was not truly serious about the Initiative.
  • The occupation’s rejection of the Initiative’s articles.

The Arab countries secretly normalized with ‘Israel’ and strengthened their ties at military, security, economic and commercial levels. The overall export and import values of ‘Israel’ to the Middle East and South Africa increased mainly because of the continuity of normalization which negatively affected the Palestinian cause but positively supported the Israeli occupation.

The intelligence and security exchange of intel between the Israeli occupation and the Arab countries has played a major role. In 2008, there was mutual cooperation between the vital facilities of Abu Dhabi and the occupation. Also, the KSA collaborated with several countries, including the occupation’s entity, in cyber-security to deter the cyber-attack on the Saudi Aramco Company. The Gulf countries also purchased Israeli intelligence technology ‘Pegasus’ in order to control their opposition through hacking and monitoring their smart phones.

At a military level, the Arab countries in general and the KSA along with the United Arab Emirates have worked on collaborating with the Israeli Air Forces to improve the combat abilities of the Saudi and Emirati pilots. Culturally, as well, the Israeli Minister of Culture and Sports Miri Regev visited Abu Dhabi, and the Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs Israel Katz attended the environmental conference held by the UN. Arab and Israeli delegations have been spotted together in international and sports competitions. In fact, the contestants sang the occupation’s so-called anthem in a sports competition held in Qatar.

Oman, too, started normalizing with the occupation. The Israeli Prime Minister visited Oman as part of public normalization. In addition, the Sudanese relations with the Palestinian people shifted when Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sovereignty Council of Sudan, met with Benjamin Netanyahu in Uganda as a move towards improving normalization between them. There are also several prominent Saudi figures who visited the occupation’s entity in an attempt to strengthen the ties between them.

The public normalization between the Arab countries and the Israeli occupation started in the 21st century when the United Arab Emirates announced in mid-August, 2020 signing a peace treaty after years of secret relations. It is expected that Oman will be doing so next, since the occupation’s entity has been working tirelessly using Emirati funds to persuade the Arabs and to destroy the Palestinian resistance’ infrastructure.

Furthermore, the Israeli occupation uses Emirati money in order to replace Islamic regimes with others that go in-line with their ambitions and interests. Two of the most famous coups the Emirates funded are the Egyptian coup against the late President Mohammed Morsi in 2013, and the coup against the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in 2016, which failed.

The Israeli occupation’s persistence to normalize with the Gulf countries is not only to control the financial resources of the Arab world but also to return to the historical roots when the Prophet, peace be upon him, expelled the Jews from Wadi Khaybar. The Jews aspire to return to the Wadi through imposing their financial and political control, which should alienate and estrange Islam and Muslims - their dreams, however, will never turn into reality. The Arab rulers who were planted by the western occupation to control the Arab governments will be facing lots of changes and reformations upon which the strategies and ideologies of the countries will change.

This will pave the road for the annihilation of the occupation of Palestine and the establishment of the Palestinian state on the entire land of Palestine since before the British occupation. One of the most important proofs is Netanyahu’s words; he said that he was trying his best to help ‘Israel’ survive its 8th decade on Palestinian soil. Such announcement means the occupation’s leadership has Tora-based, military and political evidence that their end is coming soon. Today’s normalization attempts only indicate the eventual victory, and victory requires patience.
