Prisoner Mohammed Al-Arda Starts Hunger Strike

Oct 05, 2021 08:58 am

Karim Ajwah, the attorney of the Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission, stated that the Palestinian prisoner Mohammed Al-Arda, 39, started an open hunger strike in protest against the arbitrary measures and harsh conditions of detentions imposed on him since he was moved to Ashkelon prison before 6 days.

Ajwah noted that the administration of the occupation prisons imposed several sanctions on Arda. For example, he was moved to solitary confinement, prevented from having any personal needs or covers, sentenced with fines, and also prevented from family visits.

The occupation's military court conducted an internal trial from Arda last Friday and imposed more sanctions on him.

During the attorney's visit to Arda, he said that he is being arrested in very harsh conditions of detention. The cell is tight and inclear, and he has nothing to wear. He also said that he did not take a shower for days as there are surveillance cameras in the cell's bathroom.

Arda confirmed that he will keep going on his open hunger strike until they relive the harsh conditions and measures practiced against him.

Arda is one of the six prisoners who managed to escape from Gilboa prisons on Sep 6, and were rearrested in less than two weeks.
