The Ministry of Women's Affairs organized an honoring ceremony for 'Woman of Palestine Award 2022.' This award is a part of the 'Documentation of Palestinian Women's Achievements' project, funded by Cinta Gaza Malaysia and MAMASAB Foundation.

The ceremony, held in Gaza, is a part of the International Women's Day's initiatives to choose the 'Woman of the Year' in five main fields: media, culture, voluntary work, ideology and institutional work, as several women nominated themselves. It also included the choosing of the Women of the Year on behalf of Al-Quds, through a specialized jury, headed by Abdel Khaleq Al-Af, the chief of Palestinian Writers Association. He said that 90 women nominated themselves to the award, and were subjected to the highest criteria of accuracy and transparency.

Amira Haroun, the deputy of Women's Ministry, stated that this 7th annual ceremony, is just an appreciation for the Palestinian women's sacrifices and an attempt to provide a supporting environment for them to keep giving.

She also confirmed that the jury chose several winners from various fields and specializations to conform to the Ministry's methodology to assure transparency.

Mohammed Al-Farra, the deputy chief of the Governmental Action Follow-up Committee, confirmed how hard the role of the jury was to choose the winners as all women who nominated themselves to this award deserve to be honored. The Palestinian women could surpass all obstacles until they reached high places inside and outside Palestine, penetrating sensitive positions in European Parliaments and the U.S. Congress.

Alaa Mansour, the director of Gaza Programs in Cinta Gaza Malaysia, said that the Palestinian women always shine. Their steadfastness in front of all obstacles and difficulties give them a special nature. Thus, the role of the institute comes to shed the light on the role of women in building the society, and to support them through empowering projects.

He added that the women's projects are funded by MAMASAB, a Malaysian woman who owns MAMASAB Foundation, to shed the light on the role of the Palestinian women. The most prominent of which is the establishment of the National Center for Studies and Research, under the supervision of PALM Strategic Initiatives Center and Women Empowerment Fund.

Ummyya Juha, a caricature painter, won the Woman of Palestine Award 2022 in the cultural field, while Khetam Al-Wasefi; a professor in Physics, won in the ideological field, and Eng. Islam Al-Aloum won in the voluntary field. In addition, Abeer Abu Mukhada won in the media field, and Hanady Deiba won in the institutional field.

Moreover, the jury chose the Jerusalemite writer and researcher Naela Al-Waery as the Woman of Palestine on behalf of Al-Quds, to honor her resistance and steadfastness along many years. She was selected without nomination. Maryam Abu Daqqa, a member in the political office of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, received the award on behalf of Naela.
