Digital Violations of Palestinian Content on Social Media Platforms

The Israeli occupation has always sought to freeze the spread of the Palestinian narrative on social media. Accordingly, its violations of the Palestinian content on these platforms have been increasing to range between closing and deleting accounts and pages, banning publication and live broadcasts, removing content, limiting reachability and follow-up, restricting publication, and banning numbers via these sites.

From 2019 until June 8, 2022, the occupation's violations of the Palestinian digital rights reached (3152) distributed on social media outlets.

• In May, 2021, during which the aggression on the Gaza Strip took place, witnessed many digital violations it a total of 75 digital violations.

Repercussions and Effects:

Restricting the reachability of the Palestinian content to other countries, and thus weakening the spread of the Palestinian narrative.

Penetrating the policy of neutrality on social media platforms and replacing it with bias, generating hatred against these means of the Palestinians and their worldwide supporters.

Recommendations:

To put pressure on the Palestinian Foreign Ministry to take a diplomatic path with companies and raise the level of its digital diplomacy.

To increase pressure and advocacy campaigns to close the headquarters of social media companies of occupation to free themselves from the restrictions imposed on them.

To boycott ads via social media platforms until they unblock the restrictions imposed on the Palestinian content.
