The Palestinian Prisoners Affairs Commission stated that female prisoners are subjected to ongoing violations by the administration of Damon Prison.
According to the Commission’s lawyer, prisoner Intisar Al-Awawdeh detailed the harassment she endured during her arrest.
Al-Awawdeh said: “Occupation forces stormed the house in large numbers, confiscated my phone and computer, and arrested me. They blindfolded my eyes and tied my hands. They refused to let me change my clothes and took me to the military jeep. During the entire time, they kept pushing me to the ground, and there was no female soldier with them.”
She continued: “I was transferred to the Sharon transit prison, where the humidity reaches the point of mold. The floor is extremely filthy, like a garbage dump, and foul odors are everywhere. As for the food, it is bad in both quality and quantity.”
Al-Awawdeh added that conditions in Damon Prison are extremely harsh, with no natural ventilation in the rooms and no personal hygiene supplies for the female prisoners.
She noted that all the female prisoners suffer from skin itching due to heavy sweating, humidity, and lack of ventilation.
