After the Camp David Summit, in July 2000, sponsored by America and attended by the leaders of Israel and the Palestinian Authority, the former Prime Minister of Israel, Ehud Barak, announced that there was no partner for peace in Palestine.
The Israeli media soon followed suit, assuring that Yasser Arafat (former President of the State of Palestine) was a partner in the war. Also, it spoke on the Palestinians' behalf and threatened the outbreak of the intifada. Thus, the Israeli people's reactions were like “Phew! Finally!” but the Intifada they were waiting for didn't even break out.
Later on, seven worshipers were martyred in Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa after Friday prayer, although they didn't put the lives of anyone in danger, and no Israeli soldier was injured.
The military analyst at Haaretz newspaper, Reuven Pedatzur, wrote: “After the Israeli army inspected the first two weeks of the 2000 intifada, they found that they launched about 1,200,000 bullets, which can be estimated at 100,000 bullets per day. Based on these numbers, we come to the conclusion that Israel was to be blamed for the Intifada.
Israel has been sinking in eerie silence for a few months, in operation “breaker waves”, and talks about the upcoming intifada. Since the beginning of this year (2022), 83 Palestinians have been martyred, breaking the record in recent years. Additionally, more than 700 administrative detainees and 1500 others in the Israeli prisons, during the last period. Not only this, but constant insults to the chairman of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmud Abass, and its security agencies, which took no action towards the closing of NGOs in Ramallah.
Israeli policy is now futile. They strongly violate and inflate the Palestinian dangers, describing them as a time bomb. When our army's chief of staff is a criminal, and there's no possibility of a war with Lebanon or Iran, they vent their anger by killing the Palestinians.
