The United States warned against any normalization of relations with Syria's President, Bashar al-Assad, and considered that his interests with the Palestinian Hamas movement showes his "isolation."

As a result, Assad is gradually regaining relations with the Arab States. One of his steps is to receive a delegation from Hamas, which has largely won the 11-year-old bloody war.

US state spokesman Ned Price told reporters that "the Assad regime's engagement with this terrorist organization assures us of its isolation", referring to Hamas.

He added tgat this hurts the interests of the Palestinian people and undermines the global counter-terrorism efforts in the region and beyond, stressing the rejection of any support for the rehabilitation of the Assad regime, particularly from organizations designated as "terrorists" such as Hamas.

The movement's visit to Damascus comes as relations between Hamas and Hizbollah have improved by Iranian mediation.
