The head of the Likud Party, who is tasked with forming the Israeli government, Benjamin Netanyahu, contacted Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the first time since 2013, addressing the latest developments.

Netanyahu's office confirmed in a press release published by Israeli media: "Netanyahu and Erdogan have agreed to cooperate to establish a new era of relations between them."

Earlier, Erdogan congratulated Netanyahu through a letter following his election victory, writing that he believed the latter's government would "continue cooperation between the two states in all areas."
