A group of 50 institutions comprising more than 1,000 activists, researchers, and artists of the African minority in the United States considered "Israel as a State of apartheid."

In a press statement, they reiterated their solidarity with the Palestinian people's struggle and commitment to liberate the land of Palestine and its people. They called on the US government to stop diplomatic relations with Israel.

The statement organizer Kristian Davis Bailey stated : "We are at a crucial moment in the global struggle against racism. We would like to send a clear message to the Palestinians, and to the governments of the United States and Israel that now is the time to free the Palestinians, exactly like the situation that we now have in the United States."
