The States of the European Union expressed their deep concern after settlers' zeiure of Al Hamra land in the Al-Ein area, which is a property that belongs to the Orthodox Roma monastery in Silwan town, in the occupied Al-Quds.
The Federation's representative to the Palestinian territories and Heads of Mission of the Union in Al-Quds and Ramallah stated in a joint statement that "on 27 December, elements of the settlement organization Elad, accompanied by Israeli police, seized a property in the Wadi Halweh area of Silwan, which had been leased by the Orthodox Romani Patriarchate for decades to a tenant in Al-Quds".
The statment followed, "The European Union calls for the protection of the current situation and the holy places, including Christianity, as well as for the preservation of the special status and character of Al-Quds and its Old City and their respect by all."
