In the past days, the rains revealed serious gaps in the Al-Masjid’s buildings, facilities, walls, ceilings and tiles. Rainwater leaked into the Marwani chapel and drowned its carpets. Tiles collapsed in the path of pain near Bab Al-Ghawanmeh and stones fell from the western facade of the Rock Dome.
Jamal Amr, researcher in Al-Aqsa affairs, said that these cracks reveal the danger of controlling the arcades located below the west of the Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa. He added that those arcades have been completely closed from Al-Qibali prayer hall to the Bab Al-Maghareba since 1967.
Amr cautioned that these cracks are taking place under the prohibition of the complete occupation of the restoration operations.
