Because of Israel's assaults and violations against Palestinians, the South African Parliament voted on a resolution to reduce diplomatic relations with Israel.
A statement issued by the National Freedom Party, which submitted the draft resolution, said that this step could have been supported by the symbol of the fight against apartheid, Nelson Mandela. This statement reads: "This is a moment that Mandela would haave been proud of, who always said that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians.”
Additionally, the party said that Israel was established by displacing and killing the Palestinians and establishing an apartheid regime to control the Palestinians, and added, "As citizens of South Africa, we refuse to stand by while the crime of apartheid is being committed again."
