Head of the Water Authority, Mazen Qhname, said that the Israel occupation dominated the most wealthy areas of water, as it dominated about 95% of the water in the western basin, and more than 70% of the water in the eastern basin, and other areas.
Qhname said that the water losses are numerous as a result of the occupation, dominance and annexation of the basic water wellsprings. Additionally, the occupation constantly threatens to do so to Jricho's water wellsprings as well, as they are considered the basic resources for agriculture and drinking. Not only this, but the water wellsprings of Ein Feshkha, which are considered to be the largest and most crucial, are under the Israeli occupation’s control.
He also mentioned the struggles that the water sector faces, which negatively affect water security, as a result of the occupation dominating the Palestinian water resources, and the settlement expansion. Along with the occupation hindering implementation of projects in © regions, which make up around 64% of the Palestinian lands.
