The security-political meeting between the Palestinian Authority and the Israeli occupation is set to begin today, Sunday, in the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh, under the sponsorship of Egypt, Jordan, and the United States. Along with the efforts to "reach a period of calm and confidence-building measures."
The Sharm El-Sheikh meeting is a continuation of the discussions that took place at the Aqaba meeting on February 26 with the goal of "supporting dialogue between the Palestinian and Israeli sides to work for stopping unilateral measures and escalation, break the existing cycle of violence, and achieve calm," according to Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Palestinian Authority stated that these meetings aim to stop the storming of Palestinain towns, the assaulting on settlers and the settlement project.
