Delaying World Cup Draw in Indonesia, After Calls for Israel's Exclusion

The Football Association of Indonesia decided to delay the World Cup draw for people under 20 years old, which is supposed to be held next Friday. This came because of the rejection of the Bali Province Governor to host the Israeli team.

FIFA is inspecting the tournament's preparations, which will include 24 teams from May 20 to June 11 in 6 cities. Israel will play in the competition for the first time.

In a letter sent to the Indonesian Federation earlier this month, Bali Governor Wayan Koster requested that the Ministry of Youth and Sports create a policy to forbid the Israeli national team from playing in Bali due to the ongoing conflict in Palestine. The Jakarta Post reported that protests with the flags of Indonesia and Palestine were held in Jakarta at the time. Israel was not to be permitted to participate, the protesters insisted.
