In an effort to strangle the Palestinian presence in Al-Quds, experts have warned that the Israeli occupation is attempting to establish a sizable settlement series throughout the occupied Al-Quds and its surroundings.
According to Hasan Khater, a specialist in Al-Quds and settlement affairs, the occupation wants to seize Palestinian lands in Al-Quds. This is done for the sake of settlement expansion, isolating Al-Quds, and building settlement projects.
In the occupied West Bank and Al-Quds, thousands of dunums of Palestinian public lands were confiscated in order to fund ten massive settlement projects, including the construction of hundreds of residential units and paved roads for Israeli colonial settlers. One of the biggest settlement projects south of Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa, the hanged aerial bridge project in Silwan's Wadi Al-Rababa area, is almost finished. Its purpose is to facilitate settlers' movement and alter the appearance of the occupied Al-Quds.
