In the aftermath of assassinating the three senior Islamic Jihad leaders along with some of their families and neighbors in Gaza on Tuesday morning, it is fair to say that the newscasts on Israeli television channels do not see this grave humanitarian crisis as murder of Palestinian children. All analytical opinions give the impression that such murder is not even collateral damage that is mentioned on the side of the event, but these murdered children are viewed as a good reason for national pride or even a collective moral delight. Their death is now a reason to brag about the psychological torture that awaits the leaders of the operation room, as innocents may get harmed from the Israeli army’s shelling.
Unfortunately, such psychological suffering was never documented; there has never been an image or a recording of such pain. Not one civilian eye was able to see one of these rare species on TV. It is said, though, that its beauty would make the Jewish heart smile. Therefore, we just decided to settle for the attractive description passed down to us by those who were there to witness narcissist superiority over their humble bodies.
It is never nice when you call your neighbors to play, if they do not want to. Dear readers, there is no need for me to describe to you the details of the affliction that hit us, such as rockets that are not countered by an iron dome. Is it possible that Operation Shield and Arrow will affect Noa Kirel’s chances on the Eurovision? Will the United Nations force Jihad to indemnify the Jewish couples in the south for ruining their weddings? We do have our own problems, and we do not have emotional space to occupy with a few Gazan children that we did not even know.
