During its fifth annual conference on Al-Quds, the United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People reviewed the effects of Israeli settlement policies on the Palestinians in the occupied Al-Quds.

The conference discussed the demographic changes brought on by the growth of Israeli settlements and how they affect the Palestinian presence in Al-Quds. It was virtually hosted via the Internet in collaboration with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Israel enforces control through a convoluted system that restricts access to Palestinians' rights to their Jerusalemite identity and residency, which has a significant negative social and economic impact on their day-to-day existence, according to Committee Chairman Ambassador Sheikh Niang.
