No One Is Talking about Peace

The comments are anticipated as the Oslo Agreement's 30th anniversary is being celebrated this month. As for the right-wing, they will promote conspiracy theories regarding the assassination of Rabin and claim that Israel was the victim of a Palestinian deception. According to the left-party, Israel misled the Palestinians by making false promises to end the occupation and, as a result, overflowed the occupied West Bank and East Al-Quds with illegal settlers. However, they agreed that the word "Peace", which had been prominent throughout the time of Oslo, was completely eliminated from the agreement. In terms of the Palestinians, they are absent from any mention of the negotiations or a peace accord.

Although the lands will be annexed and the Palestinians will not have national rights, even those in the Gaza Strip, Netanyahu wants peace and an end to the conflict. The right-wing rejects the existence of the Palestinian people, as it has done for many years, while the "block of opponents of the occupation" calls for disengagement from some areas rather than for peace. Palestinians are not treated by either party as co-creators of the future. Currently, the "two-State solution" is not being debated in the government; instead, it is being debated whether to abolish the Palestinian Authority.

The reality on the ground, the internal Israeli rhetoric, and the government's policies were all well-expressed by Bin Gvir. The issue stems from Israeli policy, which rejects peace and views the Palestinians as a class of subjects with no rights.

In times like these, I long for Rabin, who knew how to guide Israelis towards peace. He could make the Palestinians and the rest of the world  believe that the distorted portrayal of him on the anniversary of Oslo, only serves to highlight Israel's disastrous course since his death, when Ben Gvir rose to prominence after he was inferior.
