Dr. Ghazi Al-Yazji, Head of the Nephrology and Kidney Transplant Department at Al-Shifa Medical Complex, has warned of a humanitarian catastrophe threatening the lives of kidney patients in Gaza following the shutdown of dialysis machines due to a water outage inside the unit.

Dr. Al-Yazji confirmed that the department is suffering from a severe water shortage, leading to a complete halt in dialysis procedures. He emphasized the urgent need to establish a dedicated water desalination unit for the department and to secure the necessary fuel to ensure the uninterrupted operation of generators—something that is currently impossible due to the blockade imposed by the occupation on Gaza's border crossings.

It is worth noting that 280 kidney patients rely on dialysis amid a critical shortage of medical equipment, consumables, and essential medications.
