The UN Special Rapporteur on Torture and Cruelty, Alice Jill Edwards, has called for an acceleration of investigations into the cases of Palestinian prisoners who have died in Israeli occupation prisons.

Edwards strongly criticized the mistreatment of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli occupation prisons since October 7, 2023, emphasizing that many of those released as part of the exchange agreement were held in harsh conditions. Some appeared in poor health, necessitating independent and impartial investigations into torture and mistreatment.
