Juliette Touma, Director of Communications at the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), said:
"With the Israeli authorities’ siege on Gaza continuing for more than six weeks, all essential supplies are on the verge of running out."
She explained that prices of goods have risen significantly over the past month, ever since the blockade on the Gaza Strip was imposed by the occupation.
She added, "This means that infants and children are going to sleep hungry. Without these essential supplies, Gaza is getting closer every day to extreme famine."
Touma called for an immediate ceasefire, the lifting of the blockade, and the unhindered entry of humanitarian and commercial supplies.
