Hamas has confirmed that its leadership is currently reviewing a new ceasefire proposal received from mediators regarding the situation in Gaza. The movement stated it will respond as soon as internal consultations are completed.

Sami Abu Zuhri, the head of Hamas’s political bureau abroad, said that Hamas is open to any proposals that would alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people. However, he criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for presenting “impossible conditions” aimed at obstructing any ceasefire agreement.

Abu Zuhri noted that the latest Israeli proposal does not include a full commitment to ending the war but only demands the release of Israeli captives. He affirmed Hamas’s readiness to release all Israeli captives in one batch, in exchange for a complete ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.

The movement reiterated its firm position that any future agreement must ensure a permanent ceasefire, full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, a genuine prisoner exchange deal, a serious reconstruction process for the destruction caused by the war, and the lifting of the blockade on Gaza.
