The Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs reported that female prisoners held in Damon Prison are enduring extremely harsh and inhumane detention conditions.
According to the commission, based on a visit by its lawyer, the food provided is poor in both quality and quantity, causing digestive illnesses among the prisoners. All of them have lost significant weight.
The commission added that prisoner Karam Mousa, 53, was held in a cell that was filthy and stained with blood, with no space for prayer, no food, and only a small mattress she had to share with another inmate.
The commission's lawyer also visited prisoner Shahd Majed Hassan, 23, who is being held under a four-month administrative detention order.
Hassan said: “I was arrested from my home, then transferred to Ofer Prison, followed by Beit El, then to Hasharon Prison for one night, and finally to Damon. It was a journey of torment — the treatment was extremely harsh, I remained shackled the entire time, and I was subjected to insults and humiliation throughout the transfer.”
